There are different incision for breast augmentation. The most commonly used incisions sides are inframammarian which is done underneath the breasts just above the natural crease and periaerolar incision which is done around the lower edge of the brown area surrounding nipple like a halfmoon. Less likely used incision is the one made under armpit in axillary area (see shape 1). Incisions for the placement of breast implants vary depending on the type of implants, the size of aerola, body type and patient- surgeon preference. Breast implants are inserted in the pockets via one of the incisions as agreed.
Pockets are prepared for the implnats to be placed. Pocket can be created behind breast tissue (submammarian) or under pectoral muscle(subpectoral). The location of pockets are determined based on the size of breasts, the severity of sagged breasts, type of the body, the sufficiency of breast tissue and patient - surgeon preference. Following the incision the implant is inserted into the pocket. At the end, incisions are closed with specific sutures.
After the surgery a special dressing is performed on the breasts or a supporting bra is given. The result is visible immediately after the surgery. Over time swelling will fade and the scar will become undetectable. Breast implant patients are the most satisfied among cosmetic procedure patients. The results are remarkable.
One or two hours after the surgery you will be allowed to drink water ,eat and mobilize. For managing pain, painkiller will be provided. In general the surgical pain may fade away in 2-3 day and simple pain killer work well. Depending on your recovery the same or the following day you will be discharged. Even you may easily resume normal life within 2-3 post-op days, your doctor will suggest you a necessary program. For a better recovery, you should avoid strenuous activities and carrying heavy things for a few weeks. The decision in order to resume daily life depends on how fast you heal and you feel.
Even your doctor will make the best effort to make scars unvisible they are inevitable for this surgery.In most cases scars will fade away and will become hardly noticeable. Mild swelling and colur change will go away very fast. Soreness will alleviate within weeks. Your doctor will give necessary instructions on breast massage to provide softness.
